DRES is looking for new volunteers to join our Board! The current volunteer Directors have made substantial progress getting our dream of a community owned solar PV generator in Scotland’s sunniest city off the ground – or rather on the ground! We have obtained a suitable site, a customer for the power, a full feasibility study, development funding, and planning permission for the project. The project will cost around £2 million to build 2MW of solar power.
Role and tasks
The next phase involves further engagement with the local community to prepare for a community share offer to raise the funds to build the park. Share owners will also receive a return on their investment. We have the support of Energy4All to do this, but would like as many local members as possible. We will then construct the site and connect to the grid. Once the park is generating, Board members will set up the community benefit scheme, in which a share of the profits of around £720,000 will be distributed to local environmental projects.
We would welcome people with some skills or experience in the following:
However this is not essential and we will support new volunteers to get involved in the project.
If you are interested drop us a line at email@example.com we would love to hear from you! One of the Directors will arrange a call to talk over the work and any questions. You can then ‘shadow’ a Board meeting to see what it would be like joining the Board. We look forward to hearing from you!
